Hugh Jackman a big winner from Andrew Forrest's purchase of RM Williams

Hollywood superstar Hugh Jackman has emerged as a unlikely winner from WA billionaire Andrew Forrest's purchase of Australian bootmaker RM Williams.

Mr Forrest acquired the iconic Aussie brand from US private equity firm L Catterton, bringing it back under Australian ownership for the first time since 2014.

Jackman has been an investor in RM Williams since 2015, holding a five per cent stake in the company after .

Now that Mr Forrest’s family investment fund Tattarang has complete control, Jackman has cashed in his stake for around $10 million.

In 2019 Jackman was named an RM Williams brand ambassador, a position he's expected to retain.

Last month Jackman starred in a cheeky ad where he met with a RM Williams executive while wearing his new boots — and nothing else.

“Firstly, let me say, Hugh, that we are delighted that you love RM Williams boots,” the executive says in the opening before the camera pans out showing a naked Jackman seated across the desk, with his boot clad feet up.

“I’m actually, like, in love,” the actor replies in the video. “They're great. They’re amazing.”

RM Williams also provided the outfits for Jackman’s 2008 outback film epic, Australia,.
