He’s one of the most controversial sports figures in the nation and in the upcoming season of SAS Australia, AFL legend Wayne Carey will be put into situations he’s never experienced before.

The former North Melbourne and Adelaide player can be seen getting grilled by DS (Directing Staff) in an all-new sneak peek.

The highly anticipated interrogation of the Aussie Rules icon will be one of the highlights from the upcoming season.

“I slept with a teammate’s wife. It’s haunted me for 20 years. My integrity will always be questioned,” Carey reveals.

“I’m not trying to prove anything to the public, it’s to myself. People can change, they evolve. Hopefully this can help me.”

Viewers will see a new side to the footy great turned commentator, nicknamed “The King”, as he will be forced to face his fear of heights.

Carey can be seen in the new promo scaling the cliff face of a thunderous 80-metre high waterfall.

“My worst nightmare would be standing at the top of a mountain,” he says.

The sports commentator is one of 17 Aussie celebrities embarking on a life-changing experience – a gruelling series of physical and psychological tests from the rest SAS selection process.

The Aussie celebrities will have their luxury lifestyles thrown out the window as they’re cut off from the outside world at a brand-new base in unforgiving jungle terrain, bordered by wild seas, dramatic cliff faces and rugged rocky outcrops.

Guiding recruits through this year’s gruelling course is Chief Instructor Ant Middleton and returning DS Ollie Ollerton.

This year the two Brits will be joined for the first time by retired US Navy SEAL Clint Emerson and former British Special Forces soldier Dean Stott.

The star recruits attempting to pass selection on the new season of SAS Australia include Melissa Tkautz, Anna Heinrich, Barry Hall, Ellia Green, Geoff Huegill, Locky Gilbert, and Pauly Fenech just to name a few.

SAS Australia returns to Seven and 7Plus in February.
