Pitcher and Iron

Pitcher and Iron’s Matcha Panda Belgian waffles feature a whack in the face of flavour — the bitter green tea ice cream melts like molten lava into the charcoal Brussels base. This Japanese-inspired dish at the Subiaco waffle house is a must try for anyone who loves a strong matcha hit.

Matcha soba noodles

Jbento

At Jbento in Mount Pleasant, I paid $4 to trade their OG rice ball for matcha soba noodles which elevated my unagi bento. The noodles were springy and surprisingly a great fit despite the savoury setting.

Kumo

Kumo’s Matchamisu is an earthy twist on Italy’s treasured tiramisu available at the trendy joint down Washing Lane in Perth. Each spongy layer was enveloped with the glorious green liquid. Delizioso!

Matcha Crushed Ice

Dessert Garden

The Northbridge sweets specialists’ Matcha Crushed Ice is a Taiwanese shaved ice dessert that towers over the bowl like Godzilla. The sago, aiyu jelly and red bean were filling. Bring a few friends to conquer this absolute beast.

Kin Coffee

The matcha granola at this Leederville cafe is perfect for my vegan readers. It’s got the lightest green tea flavour on this list, so it’s also a good one for converting matcha-sceptics.
