Sam McGovern

Shortly after appearing on The Voice Australia to perform his own rendition of U2’s hit track I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For, which went viral on social media, Cottesloe-based Sam McGovern has finally delivered what fans have been asking for — a full-length version.

“I never would have thought one song could have changed my life but yet it did,” said McGovern.

The Perth prodigy is set to hold his first headlining show since The Voice, at Mojos Bar in Fremantle, alongside two fellow former contestants Asha Newman and Taylor Piggott on August 14.

Sustainable Lipsticks

When we think of plastic waste our minds can often wander to grocery bags, straws and bottles, but what about the endless products lining our beauty shelves? According to recycling company TerraCycle, the global cosmetics industry produces 120 billion units of packaging every year. Astounding, right? Well beauty brand Rose Inc, founded by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, is part of the solution rather than the problem and offers refillable products, with our favourite being the Satin Lip Color Rich lipsticks. Available at Mecca from $42, they make a great present or gift to yourself (and the world).

Truffles Galore

Just as West Australian truffles hit peak season, Kailis Hospitality Group are offering customers a taste of decadence that won’t break the bank.

Customers can add shaved Coomer truffle to the famous seafood chowder at Kailis Fishmarket Cafe and to delicious pumpkin soup at Canteen Trigg for $9 until the end of truffle season.

“The truffle soup pairing is perfect for anyone wanting to enjoy a touch of luxury in a casual setting, or get their truffle fix without committing to a full ‘truffle dinner’. It’s also a great way to try truffle for the first time,” Kailis Hospitality Group managing director George Kailis said.
