Albany Junior Soccer Association’s knockout cup competition took place last Saturday, starting with the under-12s in which Denmark Black and ACC Southlands could not be separated at the end of full time.

At the end of regular time it was 2-2, with Leyton Bock scoring a brace for ACC, and Jamie McKenna and Kai Taylor scoring for Denmark.

In extra time, an own goal gave Denmark the edge before a late Riley Bishop goal sealed the win and saw them move into the semifinal, where they will face St Josephs after their 5-2 win over Yakamia.

Parklands moved into the semifinal with a comprehensive victory over Denmark White.

Parklands let their concentration slip, allowing Denmark White to score twice goals in quick succession, but then they took control to set up their semifinal against Great Southern Griffins, who fought hard to overcome John Calvin in their quarterfinal.

John Calvin and the Griffins were goalless at the end of the first half but the game opened up in the the second half, with an own goal the the deciding factor in Griffins’ win.

In the 13s a penalty shootout was required to settle the match between ACC Southlands and Albany Bayswater, which ended 2-2 at full-time.

With Bayswater scoring two of their first three and ACC missing their first three, Bayswater were given the advantage and James Atkins sealed the win for Bayswater.

In the semifinal they will face the league leaders Stirling Rangers, who beat Griffins 12-0.

Caledonians and Denmark battled hard in an incredibly tight match, with both sides misfiring in front of goal.

Both had opportunities but neither were able to find the back of the net and it seemed it would either be something special or a defensive error that would prevent the match going to penalties.

It was the latter, with a very tame shot finding the back of the net, with the Denmark defence unable to clear their lines.

In the semis they will face Polonia, who beat Rovers Black 2-0 courtesy of goals by Macsen Marchment and Samuel Szuca.
