Good Sammy has launched an online service to bring more employment opportunities for those living with a disability in WA.

The op shop hopes to reach a bigger customer base from across the Great Southern as well as offering more convenience for Albany shoppers.

Customers can now order products online and get them delivered in the comfort of their own homes.

Chief executive Melanie Kiely said the store had gone online as a way to create meaningful employment opportunities for people in Albany.

“We believe this will increase choice for our Albany customers who can not only shop directly in our Albany store but can now view a broader range and offering and have these items delivered to their doorstep or their store,” she said. “We are conscious we need to create these opportunities in more contemporary areas.

“By supporting our retail business the Albany community not only helps to create meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities in our Albany store but also supports us to create new employment opportunities in the online photography, merchandising and digital space which is in high demand in the younger demographic.

“This means new opportunities for our staff in the Albany store to learn new skills and it may also lead to new and more jobs.”

A selection of community donations will be curated into key categories and price options.

The physical store had to close its doors during COVID-19. Good Sammy used this time to get the online store up and running for the entire State.

“We would like to thank our loyal donors and customers in Albany and across WA for supporting us,” Ms Kiely said.

An Albany click and collect service is in the works.
