Red Can Man is set to back up in consecutive group feature races, after being the final acceptance for the Group 3 A.J. Scahill Stakes (1400m) at Ascot this Saturday.

The five-year-old ran in a Group 1 race last Saturday, finishing seventh in the $1 million Winterbottom Stakes (1200m) for Albany trainer Steve Wolfe and jockey Shaun McGruddy.

The Albany star will drop back in grade but still comes up against seven quality gallopers.

The winner of eight career starts has drawn well in the $200,000 feature race on day three of the masters carnival.

Red Can Man will jump from barrier four with 59kg for McGruddy as he looks to return to the winner’s circle.

Meanwhile, fellow Albany trainer Roy Rogers will start promising three-year-old Acefire in the Listed $125,000 Lee Steere Classic.

Acefire has won its previous two starts in impressive fashion at Ascot mid-week meetings but will step back to Listed company for the second time in its seven-start career.

McGruddy takes the reins from William Pike, and Acefire will jump from barrier two with 55kg in the field of nine.

Rogers will also have debutante Ciao Luna, along with Grand Design, entered, while Wolfe has Bragwell engaged on Kingston Town Classic day.
