Service recognised

Community contributions and generosity were acknowledged last month when Dunsborough woman Anne Mair received the Zonta woman of achievement award for her volunteer work with St John Ambulance.

The award exists to recognise women who have made a difference to others through their vision, commitment, leadership, mentoring and service.

Zonta Club of Dunsborough president Pauline Vukelic said Ms Mair won the award for her services with the Dunsborough St John Ambulance sub-branch, where she works as a volunteer and trainer.

“It recognises Anne’s contribution as an educator, trainer and volunteer, and it also highlights the important work that people in the ambulance services contribute to our region,” Ms Vukelic said.

As part of her contributions to the community, 2020 marked Ms Mair’s 10th year working at the annual Capes Leavers’ event, at which she supported the safety and wellbeing of the graduates.

The Dunsborough philanthropist also undertakes regular relief work within the region and further afield in the Pilbara.

Ms Mair said she was surprised by the award and she felt “overwhelmed and honoured” to receive the recognition.

“I’m very humbled by this award. I’m passionate about supporting the community in any capacity that I can,” Ms Mair said.

The Zonta Club of Dunsborough is part of the organisation Zonta International, which aims to empower women all over the world through service and advocacy.
