Firefighters had to rescue a man in his 80s after a car crashed through a Gosnells dentist clinic on Sunday evening.

The crash happened at about 6:11pm, when a green Ford Falcon ploughed into the back of a parked silver Mitsubishi Eclipse, causing it to smash through the window of the Angelz Dental Care & Physical Medicine Centre.

It took firefighters more than half an hour to pull a trapped man in his 80s through the rear window of his Falcon.

St John Ambulance attended the scene but the elderly driver managed to escape serious injury and appeared to be in good spirits.

He was taken to the Perth Royal Hospital as a precautionary measure.

The dentist clinic sustained substantial damage to the front of the building and some equipment was also damaged.

There was no one inside the parked Mitsubishi at the time of the crash.

One of the owners, Tamera, rushed to the scene when she got a phone call from the restaurant next door.
