Union slams safety record of Sino Iron mine site where scaffolder Eugene Tata fell to his death

Mines inspectors have slapped more than 60 breach notices since 2015 on the Pilbara iron ore operation where a scaffolder suffered a fatal fall on Friday — a record slammed as unacceptable by mining unions.

Queensland father Eugene Tata, 52, died from injuries sustained in the fall at China’s CITIC Pacific Mining’s giant Sino Iron site, about 100km south of Karratha, where he was working for contractor Karridale Group.
