A Waroona couple has tied the knot in a small ceremony of five, after being forced to postpone their wedding due to the coronavirus.

Amber and Cameron Shaw had planned to get married in front of their family and friends on March 28.

The pair, who met on Tinder, had originally chosen the day for sentimental reasons.

We wanted to have a wedding close to my parent’s wedding anniversary on April 1.

She said her Dad had suffered an aneurysm a year before and she could not wait to have him walk her down the aisle.

But as the coronavirus crisis continued to wreak havoc, the couple’s wedding plans became shaky.

Mr Shaw’s family lives over east and were affected by travel bans.

We were pushing forward and we started receiving calls and messages saying our wedding guests were no longer able to make it.

“The list just kept shrinking and it was really stressful.”

He said they had 130 guests on the Friday which dropped down to 82 on the Saturday and then 40 on the Sunday.

“We were so heartbroken,” Mrs Shaw said. “I cried non-stop for about a week.”

They decided to go ahead with a ceremony and postpone their wedding celebration so her Dad could attend.

“Once you have an aneurysm, there’s a high chance of having another one, so we wanted to have Dad with us and decided to go ahead with the ceremony,” she said.

Although, with the new Federal Government restrictions, the pair were forced to only have five people at their wedding.

That included themselves, the celebrant and two other guests. They also dressed up their fur babies, Atlas and Nova, for the occasion.

They live-streamed their backyard ceremony online.

“I ended up not wearing my wedding dress and getting a little white garden dress instead.

“In the end, we just realised the marriage was more important than the wedding.”
