$80 million Powerball draw: One in four West Aussies set to buy ticket

One in four adult West Aussies is expected to secure a ticket for Thursday night’s Powerball draw - which has jackpotted to $80 million.

Less than five hours until balls drop at 6pm, Lotterywest spokeswoman Lisa Williams said outlets were preparing for a serious a surge in activity as punters lock in their entries.

“Jackpots of this size always generate a great deal of interest and we estimate almost one in four adult West Aussies will have a ticket for tonight’s draw,” she said.

“When the Powerball jackpot last hit $80 million in February, we saw almost 46,000 tickets sold between 4 and 5pm on draw day.

“That’s an average of 760 tickets sold every minute.”

Since 2018, WA players have shared in more than $1.2 billion of Powerball prize money across all divisions.

The most frequently drawn winning numbers are 17, 7, 9, 2, 25, 16 and 11.

Tickets for tonight’s draw are available until 6pm Thursday, May 19.
