A couple has spent more than a week unaware they were holding onto a $1.23 million lotto ticket just waiting to be cashed in.

The Joondalup pair were completely unaware of their fortune, which they secured by playing Saturday Lotto.

The win came from the draw on June 6 and the ticked was picked up from the Grand Boulevard Lotteries Kiosk.

The pair initially thought they’d scooped $750 — but their windfall was far more significant.

“We kept checking over and over again and that’s when it clicked - we could actually be millionaires,” one of the winners said.

Given the tough economic situation the couple will use their winnings to help close family.

Meanwhile a man also from Perth’s northern suburbs has picked up $500,000.

The lucky player also had no idea he was the owner of ticket from a draw in late May.

“Lotterywest called me, but I thought it was a scam at first,” he said.

“I was ready to tell him where to go until he asked me to check my account, that’s when I started to shake.”

Another big draw will be held Saturday, with $20 million up for grabs.
