Christmas has come early for a Bunbury man after becoming an instant millionaire.

The man, who did not want to be named, scooped more than $1 million in Saturday’s Lotto - after almost giving up on buying a ticket.

He had gone a few months without winning anything significant and was debating whether to even bother to get his regular Slikpik ticket.

Thankfully, he did walk into the Nextra Crosslands Newsagency and buy one.

“I was checking my ticket on Sunday morning and thought I’d won division two, thinking that was pretty good,” he said.

“I then double-checked the numbers to be sure and realised that I’d actually matched all six winning numbers.

“I never thought I’d ever win division one.”

The man said he was looking forward to be able to stop renting and buy a house, as well as a new car.

Lotterywest spokeswoman Hermione Coleman said December had been a good month for WA Lotto players after the incredible $80 million Powerball win by a syndicate of 55 women at a gym in the northern suburb of Beldon.

Those in the syndicate ranged in age from 17-84 and had their lives changed forever.

“We’ve just finished welcoming 55 wonderful women into the winner’s room ... and we’re thrilled to be able to welcome more just before Christmas,” Ms Coleman said.

WA’s tally of division one winners for 2021 now sits at 69.

The Bunbury man’s ticket was one of two WA winners in the draw.

The other winner, who bought their ticket at Here’s Luck Lottery Centre in Cloverdale, is still to claim their prize.
