One fortunate lotto player won $1 million in the Monday night draw, bringing 2022’s tally of millionaires from Monday night Lotto to seven in WA.

The ticket was bought in Waikiki, south of Perth.

Patricia Klein, owner of Seahaven Newsagency which sold the lucky ticket, said the win will make a big difference to someone’s life.

“$1 million is really life changing,” she said.

“A lot of my regular customers are a bit older and it’s a pretty amazing retirement package.”

In addition to the instant millionaire who struck gold on Monday, two tickets sold in Canning Vale and Jurien Bay won more than $6,000 a pop in Division Two.

WA also saw a Monday Lotto winner in April, who was stunned to have got lucky.

“I was dumbfounded when I realised I’d won,” they said.

“I think the newsagent was more excited than me, I was just in complete shock.”

“At the time I was checking my ticket there were some other players in store and when I shared the news with them, they wanted to brush up against me in the hope some of my luck would rub off onto them.”

The April winner now has a new lawn mower and a golf club set, a Lotterywest media release stated.

According to the media release, now ”Mondayitis is a thing of the past for WA”.

WA has also seen winners in other Lotto draws this year, with nine work colleagues who have been buying tickets for nine years as a group each receive $200,000 from a $1.8 million win in early May.

“We’ve been buying lottery tickets together for nine years, we’re like a little family,” a member of the team said.

“We picked the numbers based on our favourite numbers and birthdays.”

The owner of the Mandurah store that sold the winning entry, Woodley’s Central Newsagency and Lottery Centre, said the win had happily ended their “drought”.

“We haven’t won big for about eight or nine years and to sell a winning ticket for both a Division One and Division Two prize in Saturday’s draw is very exciting,” said owner Wayne Woodley.

“They do say when it rains it pours.”
