Manjimup Lions member Dot Jacobs has been selected as the next district governor for the region and will take up her role from July 1.

A Lions member since November 2009, Ms Jacobs was nominated by the Manjimup Lions for the district governor position.

Her role will oversee 62 Lions clubs in the State.

“Everything south of the Swan River and east to Esperance,” Ms Jacobs said.

“I’m essentially the chief executive officer of the district.”

Ms Jacobs recently travelled to Chicago in her new role.

In her 11 years with Manjimup Lions, she has also been the 1st and 2nd vice district governor, which was a requirement before she could be considered for the district governor role.

“There will be a lot of meetings for a lot of the foundations that I am now on as a result of becoming the district governor,” Ms Jacobs said.

“The best part is going to all the clubs during my term.”

Saturday was also Lions Appreciation Day, which Ms Jacobs said was a good reason to highlight everything the Manjimup Lions did in the community.

“We have the shearing weekend, Jazz in the Jarrah, we sponsor kids for the Leeuwin trip and Outward Bound and host the Peace Poster and Essay competition with schools,” she said.

“We have 11 members and we are always looking for more.”
