Keith Rendell found ‘safe and well’ after he went missing in Salter Point for several hours

An 84-year-old man who went missing while walking in Salter Point has been found and will be reunited with his relieved family.

A search was underway on Thursday night after Keith Rendell was reported as missing after he became lost or disorientated in the riverside suburb.

At about 8pm, Mr Rendell was found by a member of the public in the Fremantle area.

“A member of the public came across him and subsequently became aware of the public appeal/emergency alert and took Mr Rendell to the Fremantle Police Station,” police said.

“Mr Rendell appears to be in good spirits and will be taken home by police to be reunited with his family.”

He was last seen at the Fremantle Train Station about 3.30pm on Thursday.

The Public Transport Authority advised police that Mr Rendell left the train station and was believed to be trying to get home.

“It is believed Mr Rendell may be walking in the area and may have become lost or disorientated,” police said at the time

“He may not ask for assistance.”

Police and other authorities, such as the State Emergency Service, spent the evening searching across Fremantle, Salter Point and surrounding areas.
