A crash in Northbridge early on Sunday morning has left a man in hospital with a serious hand injury.

Police officers from the major crash unit are investigating after a silver Hyundai Accent collided with a white Hyundai iX35 LM about 7.35 am, at the intersection of Lord and Newcastle streets.

The 64-year-old driver of the Hyundai iX35 LM received a serious hand injury as a result of the crash and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital for treatment.

A woman in her 50s driving the Hyundai Accent was not injured in the crash.

Investigators are examining the crash site and asking anyone who saw the crash, or either vehicle travelling in the area prior to the crash, to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online.
