“The World’s Greatest Shave is not until March but I did it now so I didn’t have to have hair for the wet season.”

Local Harvey Norman franchisee Laura de Vere Hunt kissed her golden locks goodbye last month, as the razors came out in the name of charity.

Ms de Vere Hunt raised more than $8000 for the Leukaemia Foundation initiative, introduced 22 years ago.

She also donated her 55cm of hair to the Sustainable Salons beauty network, to turn it into a wig for cancer patients.

Ms de Vere Hunt said she was inspired to take part in the initiative by her mother, who was diagnosed with lung cancer three years ago.
