Tiger shark forces Surf Life Saving WA to close Mullaloo Beach

Swimmers who flocked to the ocean to beat the scorching heat this afternoon have been pulled from the water after a shark was spotted in Perth’s north.

A Surf Life Saving WA Westpac helicopter spotted the 3m tiger shark circling 30m offshore at Mullaloo Beach just after 3pm.

The popular beach was closed minutes later.

The 3m tiger shark forced the closure just after 3pm.

Perth reached a top of 36C degrees today, while Midland hit 37 and Armadale topped 36.

Meanwhile a shark sighting has also closed Smiths Beach south of Yallingup, after a 2.5m shark was sighted 300m offshore.

SLSWA said the ocean predator was swimming south.

Bunker Bay beach in Margaret River was closed due to a shark sighting at 8am, before being reopened just before 9.30am.
