A motorist has been airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital after a crash in the South West.

The man in his 20s was driving along Stirling Road in Channybearup when his car smashed into a tree just before 8am.

He was left trapped and injured inside until the arrival of emergency services.

The West Australian was told he suffered injuries to his legs.

He was flown to Jandakot Airport before being taken to RPH, where he is in a stable condition.
