A splash of colour has been added to Bunbury’s iconic Victoria Street with the installation of street banners designed by indigenous artists.

The street banner project is part of the Bunbury Regional Art Gallery’s Noongar Art Program which features artwork on street flags.

The flag imagery has been taken from a selection of silk scarves created by 13 indigenous artists with designs that showcase a contemporary cultural expression of the surrounding environment.

Summit Realty South West has donated its billboard to help tell the story behind the banners and showcase the designs.

The artists involved in the project are Rhona Wallam, Erica Anthony, Dellas Bennell, Beverly Thomson, Tracy Bellotti, Dawn Alone, Lera Bennell, Marjorie Ugle, Joanne Ugle, Joyce Dimer, Erica Dimer, Charmaine Thorne and Korrine Bennell.
