One lucky South West resident has had a great start to the new year, winning more than $35,000 in Tuesday’s lottery draw.

Although there were no division one winners during Tuesday night’s Oz Lotto draw, the South West resident was one of more than 59,000 winners from WA to share in prizes across divisions two to nine.

The lucky ticket was sold at NewsXpress Treendale and is worth more than $35,000, with store owner Neville McDonald congratulating the winner.

“It’s fantastic to see someone take home a prize and hopefully we strike when the iron’s hot for next Tuesday’s $30 million jackpot,” he said.

“We have a growing community down here and it’s great to see the money go back into the community.”

It comes after a $60,000 Lotterywest grant was provided to Agencies for South West Accommodation, which provides emergency relief for families experiencing financial disadvantage in the region.

“Despite Oz Lotto not being won last night, the WA community still came out winners with almost $3 million being raised from this jackpot run,” Lotterywest spokesperson Nikki Brown said.

“Every time you play one of our games, you’re helping to support and build a better WA.”
