Finance Minister Mathias Cormann has wholeheartedly embraced #dancingtogether — Telethon and Seven West Media’s brand new competition to bring fun, humour and dance into our isolated lives — by proudly posting an adorable video of his young daughters busting a move in the backyard.

Sharing the three-minute video on Facebook yesterday morning, Mr Cormann captioned the charming clip, “More Easter Holiday fun! #dancingtogether” before tagging @Telethon7 — a must if you too want to take part in WA’s latest online dance craze.

The clip was recorded in Mr Cormann’s backyard, where his daughters Isabelle and Charlotte dance, jump, skip, swing and roll their way through three minutes of choreography to the lyrics of Meghan Trainor’s Better When I’m Dancin’.

Both girls showed some impressive moves, with a “worm”, a “cartwheel”, and a forward “somersault” the stand-out moments.

And while costume changes were not applied in this particular live performance, several props including swings and some large colourful boxes were taken advantage of, not to mention different filming locations at the Cormanns’ jungle gym, inside a play house, and on the grass.

Telethon and Seven West Media launched the #dancingtogether competition on Monday to help beat the boredom and bring joy and laughter back into the lives of West Australians living in a state under lockdown.

As part of the initiative, The West Australian is calling on families and individuals to submit their most creative videos showing their inner dancing queens take centre stage at home in isolation.

To enter just film a short dance video to a song that inspires your household and post it on social media with #dancingtogether and tag @Telethon7. Prizes will be announced very soon.
