Six East Kimberley organisations have been awarded State Government funding for events and initiatives planned for next year.

Ord Valley Events’ Party in the Park was the big winner, awarded $40,000 to run the free community event at next year’s Ord Valley Muster.

The East Kimberley Football League received $10,000 for next season’s competition, while the 2022 Lake Argyle Swim was given a $9000 boost and the Apex Kununurra Barra Bash received $5000.

The Kununurra’s Toy and Puzzle Library and the Halls Creek Basketball Association were also given a cash top-up.

Nine other organisations across the Kimberley were named funding recipients.

The funding is part of Horizon Power’s Community Partnerships Program, which saw more than $500,000 awarded to 40 community organisations across regional WA.

Energy Minister Bill Johnston said the funding would support the sustainability of vibrant regional communities, which was “fundamental” to the WA Recovery Plan.
