Anthony Carbines will enter the Victorian cabinet, replacing a veteran MP caught up in a corruption probe.

Premier Daniel Andrews on Monday confirmed the 48-year-old Ivanhoe MP will take on the portfolios of disability, ageing and carers, and child protection and family services.

The portfolios were held by Narre Warren North MP Luke Donnellan up until mid-October, when he admitted to paying for other people's Labor Party membership fees as part of a branch stacking operation, led by powerbroker Adem Somyurek.

Mr Andrews thanked his deputy James Merlino and Housing Minister Richard Wynne for taking care of the portfolios for the past two months.
