Geelong left it late, but they secured the biggest name of the trade period by finally landing a trade for Jeremy Cameron.

It came amid a flurry of last-minute deals before the 4.30pm (WA time) deadline, which included Collingwood’s Adam Treloar moving to the Western Bulldogs, fellow Pie Tom Phillips heading to Hawthorn and Essendon’s Orazio Fantasia getting to Port Adelaide.

The Cats reportedly gave up Pick 13 and Pick 15 and Pick 20 at this year’s draft to secure Cameron, as well as a future fourth-round pick.

Geelong received two future second-rounders from the Giants along with the spearhead.

It represented a strong result for GWS, who were rewarded for matching the Cats’ free-agency offer for Cameron before the trade period began.

Cameron, who has led GWS’ goalkicking in every season since their inception in 2012, will partner Tom Hawkins in Geelong’s forward line.

Giants football manager Jason McCartney said he was pleased with the return the club received for the two-time All-Australian.

“We obviously rate Jeremy very highly and felt it necessary to ensure we received fair value for a player of his calibre,” he said.

“We utilised the mechanisms available to us the restricted free agency framework to get the best possible result for our club.

“In addition to this trade, we were able to complete a valuable trade for Jye Caldwell that helped secure the return from Geelong.

“To be able to secure three first-round picks puts us in an incredibly strong position to maintain long-term success.”

1. Melbourne trade a second-round pick (currently 31) and a third-round pick (currently 43) to Sydney for a second-round pick (currently 25).

2. North Melbourne trade Ben Brown, a second-round pick (currently 28) and a future fourth-round pick to Melbourne for two second-round picks (currently 26 and 33) and a future fourth-round pick.

3. Richmond trade Jack Higgins, a first-round pick (currently 21) and a future fourth-round pick to St Kilda for a first-round pick (currently 17) and a future second-round pick.

4. Brisbane trade Alex Witherden and a fifth-round pick (currently 86) to West Coast for a third-round pick (currently 58) and a future third-round pick.

5. Collingwood trade Jaidyn Stephenson, Atu Bosenavulagi and a second-round pick (currently 39) to North Melbourne for two second-round picks (currently 26 and 33) and a fourth-round pick (currently 70).

6. Brisbane trade two first-round picks (currently 18 and 19) and a future second-round pick to Melbourne for a second-round pick (currently 25), two fourth-round picks (currently 68 and 69) and a future first-round pick.

7. Essendon trade Orazio Fantasia and a fourth-round pick (currently 73) to Port Adelaide for a second-round pick (currently 29) and a future third-round pick.

8. Collingwood trade Tom Phillips to Hawthorn for a fourth-round pick (currently 65).
