Besieged Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley has reportedly reached out to discarded stars Jaidyn Stephenson and Adam Treloar after their shocking exit from the club.

Stephenson, who slammed the club after being forced to phone Buckley himself to hear if trade rumours were true, said the duo now have “no hard feelings”.

“We just spoke and spoke very honestly with each other and we both have no hard feelings,” he told Newscorp.

“I understand the position he’s in and I think at the end of the day it’s probably the right thing for me to get a fresh start and hopefully grow something good at North Melbourne.”

Stephenson had said he was “hurt” by the response from Buckley initially, with the coach telling him to “look for a trade”.

“That phone call I made to the Bucks was the only time I spoke to anyone in the hierarchy at Collingwood,” the 21-year-old said on Thursday.

Stephenson says he is now looking forward to his fresh start at North Melbourne after he and teammate Atu Bosenavulagi were offloaded for picks 26, 33 in a 2020 AFL draft full of unknowns.

7NEWS reporter Tom Browne also confirmed Buckley reached out to Treloar in a bid to clarify his “hurtful” news that senior players wanted the midfielder out.

“(Buckley was) providing feedback from the midfield, on their ability to rely on Treloar defensively,” Browne reported.

“It appears (Buckley/Treloar’s) recollection of the calls/feedback differ.”

A petition from angry Pies fans to hold club president Eddie McGuire, Buckley and the Pies board accountable for the trade period debacle has already gathered more than 750 signatures.

The petition is calling for an urgent meeting with the board to address the concerns of Collingwood members.

“Our club is spiralling into shocking territory. Bad press, salary cap issues. From the top the President and Board must answer serious questions. They have treated members and supporters with no respect,” the petition reads.
