Fremantle Dockers overcome scoreless first term to lead Collingwood at half-time
Ugly one term, beautiful the next.
Fremantle had a scoreless shocker to open their clash with Collingwood in fine conditions at Optus Stadium, before finishing the first half with a bang to take a surprise lead into the main break.
The Dockers’ opening-term donut meant Justin Longmuir’s side, to that point, had mustered just three goals from their past seven quarters of footy.
But any concern about where the goals where going to come from was put to rest with a blistering end to the first half.
Matt Taberner and Lachie Schultz shared the spoils with two apiece as Freo took a 4.1 (25) to 2.4 (16) advantage to the main break.
Schultz provided the highlight with a superb fast-break finish, dribbling one home under pressure as to get the Purple Army up and about.

Collingwood’s half-time score marked its lowest in a game for more than two years.
The Dockers, who are searching for their first win in their home state this season, were sparked by a big second quarter from Rising Star nominee Caleb Serong (13 touches and three tackles to half-time).
