Port Adelaide veteran Brad Ebert produced one of the most courageous acts of the AFL season, which turned out to be was his final act in the AFL.

With Richmond charging looking as if they were going to kick another goal, Ebert went back with the flight to provide a goal-saving spoil against Tigers star Jack Riewoldt.

The courageous act though cost the former West Coast player, with Ebert hitting his head hard on the Adelaide Oval turf as he came down from the contest.

After the game, Power coach Ken Hinkley confirmed Ebert had retired after 260 AFL games, including 76 for West Coast from 2008 to 2011.

Ebert couldn’t stand without assistance and was taken straight from the ground, with vision showing him on the bench a few minutes seemingly a bit more aware of his surroundings.

Ebert has an bad history with concussion in recent years, sidelined for six weeks last year after he copped a knee to the back of the head in a marking contest against Collingwood at Marvel Stadium.

The forward was able to walk off the ground with his teammates after the loss, with players from both sides getting around him post-match.

Ebert was drafted to West Coast with pick 13 in the 2007 draft, where he played until 2011 before requesting a trade to the Power, the club where his family have an enormous legacy.
