With a beaming smile and a waving arm, solo sailor Lisa Blair has docked in Sydney Harbour having completed a record-breaking circumnavigation of Antarctica.

The 37-year-old came through the heads on Wednesday after travelling from Albany in Western Australia, where she completed her 92-day solo, non-stop and unassisted expedition.

"It's been miserable, squally conditions all morning and literally within 20 minutes of arrival, the sun shines," she told followers on Instagram as she arrived in Sydney and docked at Rushcutters Bay.

"The plan is for us to go and have a dinner tonight ... the boat will be here and I'd love to see you all."

Although Blair completed the circumnavigation on May 25, shaving 10 days off the previous record, Wednesday was her boat's first return to Sydney.

During the trip, she faced freezing temperatures and three-storey high waves.
