The Hockeyroos may have bowed out of the Games far earlier than expected but they arrived in Perth today in a jovial mood.

They were in fine form dressed in green an gold, waving at cameras and smiling behind their masks.

The team now goes into 14 days of quarantine, having arrived home earlier than expected after a shock 1-0 loss to India in the quarter finals on Monday.

The highly fancied Hockeyroos had opened the Games with five successive wins but could not find the back of the net — despite having nine penalty corners — against the 12-ranked Indians, who celebrated wildly in a 1-0 boilover.

Hockyroos captain Edwina Bone said that despite the loss, she was thrilled with the team’s show of heart.

“I’m just really proud of them” she said after the match. “It’s just such a shame to end it this way.”
