West Coast will be hoping their wretched injury run doesn’t extend to Josh Kennedy after the veteran spearhead left the ground late in the second term against North Melbourne.

Kennedy landed awkwardly while attempting a mark at half-forward, with the two-time Coleman Medal winner remaining on the turf for several seconds.

Kennedy immediately came from the ground favouring his left leg and went straight down to the rooms with a suspected ankle injury.

“It’s something new,” Simpson said of Kennedy’s injury at half-time.

“He can’t feel it - it doesn’t hurt... but it’s swollen a little bit.

“So we’ve just got to see what we think about getting him back on.”

But the spearhead failed to return to the action.

The Eagles overcame just their third scoreless first quarter in club history - and their first since 1998 - to take a 3.1 (19) to 2.6 (18) lead into the main break.
