Virgin Australia has slashed fares to Perth to just $119 one-way from four Eastern State capitals in a bid to boost local tourism by $11 million.

The promotion is part of the State Government’s $195 million Reconnect WA package and Tourism WA’s $12 million Wander Out Yonder domestic marketing push.

The “Escape to WA” flight incentive is for discounts up to 50 per cent for flights from Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide.

The campaign targets travellers in the Eastern States looking to visit friends and relatives in Western Australia, as well as those who want to holiday within the country instead of heading overseas.

Booking for the special flight deal is available from Sunday until June 27, unless sold out before, for travel between August 1 to September 15, 2022, and October 11 to December 14, 2022.

Details of the deals will feature on metropolitan and regional television and radio, digital and social media channels throughout Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Adelaide.

Tourism Minister Roger Cook said the “best thing we could do” for the tourism sector amid the COVID recovery was to “get tourists back travelling, spending money and enjoying all the amazing holiday destinations Western Australia has to offer”.

“This creates jobs and revenue across WA’s tourism businesses and within our hotels,” Mr Cook said.

“We have amazing momentum at the moment as the message to come to WA is being sent loud and clear around Australia and to the rest of the world.

“The McGowan Government is delighted to be partnering with Virgin Australia to give visitors from the Eastern States even more incentive to visit Western Australia.

“Our goal is to share our extraordinary part of the country with the rest of Australia and encourage visitors to experience the vast array of high-end and newly opened accommodation options in Perth and in our stunning regions.”
