State planners unanimously approve $3.5m OTR service station with 24-hour drive-through facility in Neerabup

State planners have unanimously approved a $3.5 million service station in Neerabup that will include a drive-through facility and self-service car wash. The site within the Neerabup Industrial Area on Greenwich Parade will become a new facility for Australian service station and convenience chain OTR, which stands for On the Run. The proposed development includes a 24/7 drive-through facility, 17 parking bays, designated parking bays for larger vehicles, and four self car servicing car wash bays and an automatic wash service. Only 16 submissions were received with 14 objecting to the 9811sqm proposal, citing its location near rural areas. The DAP meeting on Wednesday included Wanneroo councillors Bronwyn Smith and Jacqui Huntley. The report described the drive-through as primarily for “ordering a collection of coffee and other pre-packaged goods from the convenience store building.” Eight fuel bowsers and three separate diesel bowsers will make up the refuelling aspects of the development. Starting as a South Australian family-run BP service station in 1984, OTR now boasts more than 200 convenience retail stores across the country and employs over 6500 individuals, according to its website. In December 2023, OTR was acquired by Viva Energy for $1.15 billion. As previously reported by The West Australian, OTR will back-pay, or credit, $2.3 million in annual leave entitlements to more than 1500 current and former employees in WA, SA and Victoria following a Fair Work Ombudsman investigation.
