Mineral Resources has suffered another jumbo truck rollover on its Onslow Iron haul road despite spending big to upgrade the 147 kilometre pit-to-port road.

The accident, marking MinRes’ seventh rollover on either the main haul road or linked access roads since October, occurred on Saturday night.

“Initial enquiries indicate the incident occurred when the operator attempted to turn into what they mistakenly thought was a designated parking bay,” a MinRes spokesman said.

“The vehicle left the road prematurely, ahead of the parking bay, which caused the prime mover and two trailers to tip onto their side at low speed.

“There were no injuries and the incident was reported to the regulator. Onslow Iron haulage operations resumed shortly afterwards with no impact to haulage rates.”

MinRes announced in February it would spend $230 million to upgrade the haul road in the Pilbara following a spate of rollovers and damage from heavy rain during cyclone season.

The latest rollover reportedly occurred on an upgraded part of the haul road.

The private road is used to transport ore from MinRes’ Kens Bore mine to the Port of Ashburton.

MinRes is due to present its full-year financial results on Thursday.
