Drilling returns shallow, high-grade WA gold for Alto
New assay results from the Indomitable Camp resource, part of the larger Sandstone gold project, in the East Murchison Goldfields of WA, suggest Alto Metals has barely scratched the surface of the asset’s existing resource base. Some of the notable results include a 1m strike at 87.4 grams per tonne gold from 45m inside of a larger 29m intercept going 4.4 g/t gold from a shallow depth of 29m.
Other notable hits include a 15m section at 3.8 g/t gold from 44m with 2m strike grading 18 g/t gold from 49m. Results from another hole teased out a 7m interval running 1.1 g/t gold from 83m with a richer 1m inclusion at 24.6 g/t gold from 143m.
An 18m intercept in a nearby hole ran 1.1 g/t gold from 32m with a pair of higher-grade inclusions including a 1m section grading 5.4 g/t gold from 37m and a 5m hit going 1.4 g/t gold from 101m.
Intriguingly, the company says the mineralisation at its Indomitable Camp resource has been defined over a 2km patch of dirt that still remains open. Alto already has its foot on a 1.7-million-tonne resource at the play grading 1.3 g/t gold for 74,000 ounces of the precious yellow metal.
In what will bode well for the operation, the resource is neatly tucked inside a 20km gold corridor that also shelters the company’s Vanguard and Havilah Camps assets. Management says the flurry of gold strikes reaffirmed its belief that additional drilling at the resources could significantly grow the gold inventory at Sandstone.
In addition, the company says assays from a final phase probe at the Lord’s Corridor, about 15km south-east of the Indomitable Camp resource, has stretched the gold mineralisation at the Lord Nelson’s deposit.
Some of the better results include a 27m section at 2.1 g/t gold from 221m with a 10m inclusion going 3 g/t gold from 222m. Results from another hole include a 11m hit running 1g/t gold from 178m.
According to Alto, the 27m-long result followed up previous exploration that delivered a 67m strike going 2.3 g/t gold that increased the zone’s mineral footprint.
The company is still awaiting the results for more than 5000m of diamond drilling at Indomitable Camp. With drilling at the resource in full swing, Alto could deliver even more gold ahead of an updated mineral resource estimate towards the end of the year.
