Perth’s online shoppers can rejoice as Amazon rolls out rapid delivery to the city, promising orders will arrive at their doorstep in as little as five hours.
The long-awaited upgrade comes after research found that more than half (54 per cent) of Perth customers wait three or more business days for their online purchases to arrive.
Now Amazon Prime shoppers can get last minute gifts or late night finds at their doorstep in as little as five hours from hundreds of thousands of products from the website.
The change comes into affect from Tuesday, benefiting not only busy thumbs but also providing a major boost to local businesses that can move products faster.
The new same-day delivery on select items are broken up into morning, afternoon and evening slots on eligible orders of more than $49 for Amazon Prime members at no extra cost.
Early shoppers who order by 8am will have the product at their door between 2pm-6pm, orders by midday will arrive by 5pm-10pm and late night orders before 10pm will be received between 4am-8am the next morning.
Director of Prime for Amazon Australia Arno Lenior said that speed is king in the delivery game.
“Speed and convenience are at the heart of our delivery investment in Australia,” he said.
“Starting today, we’re rolling out new afternoon, evening, and overnight delivery windows to Perth Prime members on a huge selection of products.
“So, whether you’re ordering a last-minute birthday present before bed and finding it at your door by morning or grabbing a replacement at lunch and having it by evening customers will increasingly have the speed, selection, and flexibility to shop on their own terms, at no extra cost on eligible orders over $49.”
The major delivery changes brings Perth up to speed with Melbourne and Sydney, as 83 per cent of Perth residents believe free and/or fast delivery is the biggest factor when electing to shop online, according to YouGov.
