Footy punters will have a new way to watch this year’s AFL grand final, with Crown Perth opening the doors to its theatre for the first time for a huge viewing party.

The theatre will be transformed into a giant grand final hub from 11am on Saturday, September 26, allowing fans to watch the Fremantle Dockers take on the Brisbane Lions at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Crown Perth CEO Brian Pereira said the venue’s 122sqm screen and cinematic surround sound would give fans a mega-screen experience without having to travel to Melbourne.

He said it would be the next best thing to being at the MCG.

“The biggest game of the year deserves the biggest stage and that’s exactly what we’ve got at Crown,” Mr Pereira said.

“From the big screen in the theatre to the Sports Bar and the Merrywell, there will be an incredible game day atmosphere right across Crown Perth.”

The event will feature pre-game perspectives and half-time analysis from a panel of footy identities, with former West Coast Eagles player Will Schofield confirmed to appear.

Reserve seating includes plush theatre seats with guaranteed sightlines, a Carlton Dry and a pack of Smith’s Chips.

VIP tickets include premium front-section seating, while a hospitality package includes lunch platters and a four-hour beverage package featuring Carlton Dry beers, wine and soft drinks.

Alana McLean and Robbie Von Klitzing will host the event, with prizes also up for grabs throughout the day.

Crown Sports Bar will also show the game on its 139.5sqm high-definition screen.

But Crown won’t be the only place across Perth showing the biggest game of the AFL season.

In Leederville, The Garden will host a major party with giant screens, live entertainment, food and drinks, with tickets starting from $24.

The Claremont Hotel will offer Crew Zones packages with reserved tables, sharing platters and drinks tabs, while free kids’ activities will run from 1pm to 3pm. A raffle will be held an hour after the final siren.

The Wembley Hotel will offer free general admission, with the game shown on huge screens from 10am, alongside food and drink specials and a pop-up bar.

The Subiaco Hotel will show the match on its newly renovated terrace, with tickets including guaranteed seating and a drink on arrival.

For fans wanting to go without booking, Varsity venues across Perth will show the match on wall-to-wall screens, with fans able to walk in and find a spot.

The Sporting Globe Floreat will open from 10am, with the grand final shown across more than 50 screens throughout the venue.

And for fans heading into Fremantle for the big day, a live site will be set up on the Cappuccino Strip, with more big screens at Walyalup Koort, Esplanade Reserve and the corner of Market and High streets.

The sites will be alcohol-free and open to people of all ages from 8am to 8pm.

Security, toilets and first aid stations will also be provided.

Up to 40,000 people are expected to attend various event sites across Fremantle city centre on grand final day.

Roads between Fremantle train station and the end of the Cappuccino Strip at Fremantle Markets will also be closed from noon on Friday, September 25.
