The Fringe World Festival will recommence tonight once the Perth lockdown lifts.

Organisers took to Facebook overnight to confirm that some of their previously scheduled shows would continue from 7pm tonight, in line with transitional restrictions announced by the State Government yesterday.

“We are incredibly thankful for the strong State Government leadership and the responsibility shown by Western Australians over the past week that has allowed us to get to this place,” a statement from organisers read.

The new restrictions, that come into effect from 6pm tonight and last until February 14, dictate that entertainment venues adhere to the four square metre capacity rule with a 150 person capacity limit, but everyone must remain seated.

“The new restrictions will mean that some Fringe venues will not be able to open until February 14,” the Facebook post read.

“There will also be some shows with reduced capacity and this will affect some ticket holders.

“With a festival of more than 500 events and more than 100 venues of varying sizes, this is a complex undertaking.”

Anyone who held tickets to a Fringe show during the five day lockdown is automatically entitled to a refund.

During lockdown Fringe organisers launched an artist support fund that has raised more than $57,000 to assist performers impacted by show cancellations this week.

“Funds raised through the Fringe Fund will be distributed fairly to Fringe World artists impacted by the lockdown and cancellations,” the statement read.
