Liam Payne: Late One Direction star’s girlfriend Kate Cassidy gets ‘444’ tattoo tribute removed

Kate Cassidy has temporarily said goodbye to one of the tattoos she got in memory of late boyfriend Liam Payne, revealing she is getting one of her inked tributes removed nearly two years after the singer’s death.

The One Direction star died on October 16, 2024, at the age of 31, after falling from a balcony in Beunos Aires, sending shockwaves through the music industry.

In the months that followed, Cassidy honoured the singer with several tribute tattoos, including angel wings on her fingers, his initials LP, a rose and the number ‘444’, an angel number the couple considered deeply meaningful.

Now the influencer has revealed she is having the ‘444’ tattoo on her hand removed, sharing a post on Instagram of the laser removal process at Skin Club in Miami.

In one of the posts, Cassidy could be seen wearing safety glasses while posing in a mirror at the clinic with text overlay reading “tattoo removal today” next to a white love heart emoji.

A video showing the ink being zapped off provided an explanation behind the decision, with Cassidy explaining she planned to get it redone in the future.

“Decided to get some tattoos removed that were done poorly, will be getting redone eventually,” text over the video read.

Cassidy had previously revealed the number was meaningful to both of them, while Payne had written about wanting to marry her in a note that reference the angel number before his death.

After Payne’s death, Cassidy has been candid about the devastating impact of losing her partner of two years, regularly sharing updates on her grief journey with her followers.

In an emotional social media post marking eight months since his death, she referenced the ‘444’ number in the caption, describing Payne’s death as “a type of pain” she couldn’t “fully put into words”.

“I lost my best friend and someone I thought I had so much more time and life left to share with,” she wrote on Instagram at the time.

“Liam was the kind of person you’d start missing the moment you walked out the door. Even when leaving the house for a few hours, I’d find myself rushing home to be with him again out of excitement.

“Now facing the reality that I live in a constant state of missing you is something I still can’t fully wrap my head around.

“One day, I’ll see you again, and I’ll have so much to tell you. So much to catch up on. I love you my angel❤️444.”
