The television series Love on the Spectrum has won two more Primetime Emmy Awards at a ceremony in Los Angeles.

It takes the much-loved show to a total of seven Emmys, a record for any series made by an Australian company.

Produced by Sydney-based Northern Pictures, Love on the Spectrum follows the dating experiences of people on the autism spectrum.

The third season, which saw the most successful romantic matches of the series, took out the awards for outstanding unstructured reality program and outstanding casting for a reality program.

In the unstructured reality category, Love on the Spectrum beat Netflix's America's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, and even the hit football reality show Welcome to Wrexham.

Love on the Spectrum had touched millions of viewers and had helped reshape the public understanding of autism, director and showrunner Cian O'Clery said.

"From the beginning, our aim has been to create a series that treats our participants with dignity and respect, while offering genuine insight into their experiences," he said.

A fourth season of the reality show is in production for Netflix.

The 77th Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards were held over two nights in the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, and were dominated by crime drama The Penguin and Hollywood satire The Studio.

The main Primetime Emmy Awards ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on Sunday (Monday morning AEST).
