Two renowned international acts have pulled out of a major Australian music festival just days before they were set to open.

American rock band The All-American Rejects and hardcore punk band Knocked Loose were both part of the line-up for Good Things 2025, a music festival being run from December 5 to 7 across Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.

The alternative music festival has run since 2018 and featured major performances from The Offspring, Violent Soho, The Amity Affliction, Bring Me the Horizon and Fall Out Boy, among many others.

But in a statement on the festival’s website, The All-American Rejects and Knocked Loose both said they would no longer be going ahead with their 2025 appearance at Good Things.

All accompanying headline shows in Australia have also been cancelled.

“We’re heartbroken to share that due to a sudden family loss, we won’t be able to make it to Australia as planned,” The All-American Rejects said in a statement.

“This has been an incredibly difficult moment for us, and as much as it devastates us to miss such a great opportunity to reconnect with our Australian fans, family has to come first.

“Thank you for your understanding, your patience, and all the love you continue to give this band.

“We’ll make it up to you as soon as we’re able.”

‍In their own statement to Good Things, Knocked Loose said: “Anyone familiar with this band knows we do not take cancelling shows lightly; but family will always come first.”

“We are already planning our return and cannot wait to be back as soon as possible. Love you all,” the statement continues.

Festival organisers have announced Stand Atlantic – a Sydney-based pop punk band formed in 2012 – and metalcore behemoths Alpha Wolf as replacements.

They will both fill existing schedule slots.

“Due to the extensive logistics involved with trucking, flights, accommodation, and stage production for these bands across three days, we’re unable to adjust the timetable,” the organisers said in their statement.

“Our thoughts are with the band and their families during this time. We want to also acknowledge our fellow artists and colleagues who feel this absence alongside us.

“While life can throw unexpected hurdles our way, the show will go on, and this weekend, we’ll come together as one community to create a great experience.

“We appreciate your understanding and continued support. We look forward to delivering an unforgettable experience for you all.”

The announcement follows the organisers of metal music event Park Waves Festival being cancelled due to a “combination of challenges”.

The 11-date travelling festival, a joint venture between metalcore band Parkway Drive and concert promoter Destroy All Lines, was set to begin in February 2026.

The organisers on Tuesday announced it would no longer be going ahead, refunding all tickets and booking fees.

“Ultimately, the numbers no longer stack up. With a heavy heart, we’ve had to make a difficult decision. We’ve tried everything. We’re gutted,” they said.
