AC/DC: Angus Young and crew pop up around Perth to greet die-hard rock and roll fans ahead of Optus show
AC/DC fans around Perth have been left starstruck after band members popped up around the CBD to greet die-hard’s ahead of their highly-anticipated Thursday show.
The legendary band touched down on the West Coast on Tuesday, and were seen out and about exploring the city on Wednesday before their Power Up performance at Optus Stadium.
Lead guitarist Angus Young’s money making hands got a workout from repeating his signature on records, bells, giant bottle tops and all things in-between.
While rhythm guitarist Stevie Young and bassist Chris Chaney enjoyed the scenery around the City centre, perched up on a chair with a rolled cigarette, taking full advantage of Perth’s charming summer weather.
Cliff Williams and Matt Laug joined them to explore the famous Elizabeth Quay, and while they attempted to keep a low profile, the band members couldn’t avoid eagle-eyed fans.
Despite their fame and wealth, the Thunderstruck singers were all dressed casually but fittingly for a nice 25C day.
The band took it slow as they gear up for the fourth leg of the Power Up tour, which kicked off in Melbourne on November 12 before the show headed to Sydney and Adelaide.
Thursday’s performance will be the first of two Perth shows — with the second on Monday — that will get fans Back in Black for the iconic group’s final West Australian act.
Fans also flocked to West Perth for the band’s pop-up merchandise store at Cleaver House, with a line of supporters reaching in excess of 50m snaking around the venue.
Stock included all manner of apparel, vinyl collections and posters, including exclusive merchandise not available for purchase at Optus Stadium.
The West Perth pop-up store will operate between 12pm-10pm on Dec 3, 5, 6 and 7, and from 11am-5pm on show days Dec 4 and 8.
Ready to send fans to the Highway to Hell, AC/DC will take the stage at 8.30pm on Thursday, and will be supported by Amyl and The Sniffers and Southern River Band.
