Maida Vale has long been a place for affordable rentals but one of its homes has recently listed for a price that challenges the cost of a coastal mansion. The property is seeking $2000 a week, which is about two-and-a-half times Maida Vale’s $780 median. But to be fair, it is no ordinary home. Set on a hectare of land, the multi-generational home has six bedrooms, five full kitchens, seven bathrooms, two formal dining rooms and multiple living areas. The most breath-taking feature is a picturesque dam, which is fringed by dozens of palm trees and is big enough for a canoe. While the price is steep, property agent Katelyn Smith said it could accommodate multiple families, with features like a self-contained granny flat helping to ensure everyone has their own space. She said the property has recently seen a price reduction, after last year renting for $2200 a week. But if you’re wondering if the residents will have to spending every waking hour watering the garden, it appears not, thanks to a full reticulation system which has a 10-station automatic bore.
