1971 Ford Capri Perana Replica sells for $70k
A rare 1971 Ford Capri Perana Replica sold for $70,000 at auction yesterday, with 62 people bidding for it.
The tarmac rally car was built in WA in 2012 by a racing enthusiast who was well experienced with Perana (a play on piranha) cars, which were tuned Fords produced by Basil Green Motors in South Africa, and underwent a full cosmetic and mechanical overhaul in 2018.
The Collecting Cars auction price highlights how cars are the latest hot investment option, with many Australians priced out of the turbulent housing market.
