Jeep has slashed pricing across its Grand Cherokee range, with reductions of between $11,000 and $28,000.

Prices have been reduced by more than 20 per cent on some models, with the biggest saving to be found on the flagship seven-seater version.

The three-row Summit Reserve now slides under $100,000 before on-road costs, with a $28,000 reduction bringing it to $91,450 before on-roads.

The base versions of both the two-row and three-row body styles now fall under $70,000 thanks to reductions of more than $10,000.

The five- and seven-seat Night Eagle models are now priced at $65,450 and $69,450 before on-roads, respectively.

Jeep notes this reduced pricing applies to model year 2023 Grand Cherokees. It has yet to announce any changes to the range for model year 2024.

While its WK2 predecessor was briefly Australia’s best-selling large SUV, the new WL generation – which first arrived here in 2022 – has proved much less popular despite the availability of a longer version with seven seats.

Grand Cherokee sales, as well as Jeep sales overall, had commenced their slide several years before the WL arrived.

Nevertheless, Jeep sold 3010 Grand Cherokees in 2021, slumping to 1780 in 2022 as the new model came on stream, and then falling again to 1247 sales in 2023.

To the end of April, Jeep has sold just 254 examples, down 43.8 per cent on the same period last year.

Though a petrol V8 has remained available in North America, the WL was offered exclusively with a petrol V6 until a plug-in hybrid ‘4xe’ model arrived last year.

The WL has never been offered with a diesel, as parent Stellantis has moved away from diesels. That has certainly impacted sales, given the popularity of the turbo-diesel V6 in the old WK2 Grand Cherokee, and the ubiquity of oilers in this segment.
