There’s still no successor to the second-generation Fabia RS, but the new limited-edition Skoda Fabia 130 adds some extra spuds and a dash of sporty spice to the Czech city hatch stew.

Under the bonnet there’s a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine similar to the one currently employed locally in the 110TSI Monte Carlo.

In the 130, the 1.5-litre has been tuned to produce – you guessed it – 130kW of power and 250Nm of torque. That’s 20kW more than in the Monte Carlo, but the same peak torque.

The front wheels are driven via a seven-speed (DSG) dual-clutch automated transmission, which has been retuned for snappier responses.

Skoda claims the Fabia 130 can breeze through the 0-100km/h standard in 7.4 seconds on the way to a top speed of 228km/h. The Monte Carlo requires 8.0 seconds to crack the century, if you’re curious.

The steering has been tweaked for a more dynamic feel, and the 130 borrows the Monte Carlo’s 15mm lower suspension package.

Externally, the 130 is distinguished by a gloss black front splitter and rear spoiler, 18-inch ‘Libra’ alloy wheels with a smoked finish, red brake calipers, dual exhaust outlets, and darkened headlight bezels.

There’s also 130 badging on the front fenders and tailgate, as well as a black strip joining the tail-light clusters. Buyers can choose from the four metallic paint colours: white, blue, red, and black.

On the inside there are sports seats with integrated head restraints up front, silver highlights on the dashboard and doors, and sill plates with a special 130 motif on them.

First European deliveries of the Fabia 130 are scheduled for December. Skoda says production will be limited, but hasn’t yet specified a quantity or published pricing.

We’ve asked Skoda Australia if the new Fabia 130 will be available Down Under and will update this article accordingly.
