Probe after man found dead inside Queensland home
A man’s body was found inside a home north of Brisbane, sparking a major police probe.
A 69-year-old man was found unresponsive at a property on Winifred St at Burpengary shortly before 9am on Friday.
He died at the scene.
Detective Inspector David Harbison told reporters a 35-year-old man was taken into police custody at the scene and the two men knew each other.
Mr Harbison said the 69-year-old victim appeared to have suffered “blunt force trauma” and his injuries were likely inflicted by a weapon or implement.
“We do believe some type of weapon or implement has been used and that is still under investigation as is the crime scene with forensic analysis of the scene,” he said.
“We don’t know exactly when this incident has occurred, it’s likely to have been probably 12 hours at least previous to this morning.”
Police have urged anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers as investigations continue.
