A man forced a driver to aid his getaway after he allegedly caused a serious crash in a stolen vehicle west of Brisbane.

Police received reports a stolen 2009 Holden Commodore caused a disturbance at the intersection of Cochrane St and Maitland St in Gatton, at 9.40am on Friday.

Less than one hour later, the Commodore allegedly crossed several lanes of traffic on the Warrego Highway when it exited a service station and hit a Mazda CX3.

Police allege the Mazda was pushed into a Volkswagon Amarok, causing it to flip.

A police spokesman said a 26-year old woman from Hatton Vale driving the Mazda received minor injuries in the crash and was taken to Ipswich Hospital.

A 57-year old Indooroopilly man driving the Volkswagon was uninjured in the crash.

The Commodore driver allegedly jumped out of the car and into a Toyota HiLux forcing a 71-year old man from Lockyer Waters to drive him to an address on Lobb St in Churchill.

Officers found the 24-year old Commodore driver at a nearby address on Guilfoyle St about 11.10am where he was taken into custody.

He was charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle threatening violence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, deprivation of liberty, fraud and obstruction.

He was due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Friday.
